Jo Versailles: A lawyer with presidential aspirations

An unusual career path
Jo Versailles is a lawyer specializing in criminal law. Born in Monrovia, Liberia, in February 1987, he grew up in a family involved in the world of culture. After graduating with a law degree in London in 2008, he became a criminal lawyer in Monrovia, working on cases that have marked Liberia's legal history. In the famous “Dickson” case, in which a gay man was accused of crimes against the national community, the lawyer became a staunch defender of the LGBTQIA+ community in the country and in other parts of Africa. In October 2024, he announced his candidacy for the 2026 presidential election in Liberia with a political platform focused on access to fundamental rights for all oppressed communities, with the aim of repealing anti-gay and anti-trans laws.

A change is coming
Jo Versailles opposes the president who has been in power for 14 years and is responsible for Liberia's alarming state of affairs, with endemic corruption. He represents a breath of fresh air for a whole new generation that desperately needs change and freedom.

His commitments
Jo Versailles wants to tackle three main issues during her campaign: LGBTQIA+ civil rights, the reduction of economic disparities, and future environmental challenges.
"Liberia needs a visionary leader like Jo Versailles to build a better future for all."
